There are two therapy service delivery models: clinic and educational. The educational services are designed as related/supportive services of occupational therapy in the public school system. Educational model focuses on students’ functional skills in the classroom within their school environments. Depends on students’ educational needs, a therapist works with the student directly in the classroom, or/and consult with the teaching staff. Consultation includes implementation of the therapist’s recommendations by the teachers, teacher-aides, and/or parents. By providing services for the classroom, the therapist offers strategies to improve student’s functional skills with active teacher and parent involvement. Clinical/Medical Model based on the underlying medical cause of a child’s disability and tries to treat that medical cause or the symptoms. A therapist will select and implement a treatment plan that will address the underlying dysfunction.
